AceStat (“the App”) is a tennis and pickleball match tracker operated by VUVA Technologies LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built AceStat around a simple principle: collect as little personal information as possible while still providing a useful product.
Who the App is for
AceStat is intended for adults and parents/guardians who track their own matches or their children’s matches. It is not directed to children under 13, and children should not create their own accounts. A parent or guardian holds the account and enters any information about the players they add.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address (used for sign-in, verification, and password resets). Passwords are managed securely by Amazon Cognito and are never visible to us.
- Profile & player details that you choose to enter: first and last name, birth month and year (we deliberately do not collect the day of birth or a full date of birth), ZIP/postal code (we do not collect full street addresses), hand preference, backhand type, UTR rating, and an optional USTA membership number.
- Match data you record: scores, set/game results, per-point outcomes and statistics, opponents’ names, tournament names, scheduled games, and development goals.
- Game videos (optional): tennis videos you choose to upload for automatic analysis, plus the court markings you place on them. See Game videos and video analysis below.
- Push notification token (optional): if you allow notifications, a device token used only to tell you when a video analysis is ready.
Information we do not collect
- Full date of birth (only month and year).
- Full street/home address (only ZIP/postal code).
- Precise device location or GPS.
- Payment or financial information.
- Audio from your videos (it is removed on your device before upload), or recordings of your voice (voice tracking uses your phone’s speech service and AceStat keeps no audio).
- Facial recognition or biometric identifiers — video analysis tracks body position and movement only to compute tennis statistics and is never used to identify anyone.
- We do not use advertising networks or third-party analytics/tracking SDKs, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
Children’s information
Because AceStat supports a parent/child model, an adult account holder may add players who are minors (for example, their own child) and enter that child’s name, birth month and year, ZIP code, and playing details. This information is provided by the adult, is used only to provide the tracking features (such as calculating a current age from the birth month and year), and is never used for advertising or sold. Parents and guardians can review, edit, or delete this information at any time in the App, or by contacting us. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.
Game videos and video analysis
Video analysis is optional. When you choose to upload a game video:
- On your device, the App shrinks the video and removes its audio before uploading it. Your original stays in your phone’s gallery; the App deletes its own working copy after the upload.
- On our servers (AWS, United States), the video is analyzed automatically by computer vision: it locates the court, the ball, and the players’ body positions to detect shots and compute statistics such as shot counts, forehand/backhand split, rallies, court coverage, and where shots were hit. The body-position data is used only during processing and is not kept; we keep only the resulting statistics.
- We do not use facial recognition, do not try to identify people in your video, and do not use your videos to train or improve our models. People do not routinely view your videos; we would only access one to fix a problem you report to us.
- Retention: the uploaded video is deleted from our servers within 7 days, and immediately if you delete that analysis or your account. The statistics are kept with your account until you delete them.
- Other people in videos: videos may show you, your child, opponents, or bystanders. Only upload videos you have permission to share, and a parent or guardian must upload any video of a child.
Voice score tracking
Voice tracking is optional. While you hold the microphone button during a match, your phone’s speech recognition service turns what you say (for example “Viaan unforced backhand”) into text, and the App uses that text only to record the point. The App never records between button presses, and AceStat never stores or uploads the audio. When your phone has an offline speech model, recognition happens entirely on the device; otherwise your phone’s built-in speech service (on most Android phones, Google’s) processes it under that service’s own privacy terms. You can turn off microphone access at any time in your phone’s settings.
How we use your information
- To provide and operate the App — saving your players, matches, statistics, and schedules.
- To calculate derived information such as a player’s current age (from birth month/year) and match statistics.
- To analyze game videos you upload and show you the resulting statistics.
- To authenticate you and send account emails (verification codes, password resets).
- To send the notifications you allow (for example, “your video analysis is ready”).
- To maintain the security and reliability of the service.
Sharing match stats
When you tap Share on a match, the App creates an image of the score and key stats (players shown by first name only) and opens your phone’s share menu. Nothing is shared unless you choose where to send it, and we do not store the image.
How your information is stored and shared
Your data is stored in the United States on Amazon Web Services (AWS) using AWS Amplify (Amazon Cognito for authentication, AWS AppSync and Amazon DynamoDB for data, and Amazon SES for account email). Uploaded videos are stored temporarily in Amazon S3 and analyzed on AWS compute servers. Every record is scoped to your account so that you can only access your own data. We also use Expo (EAS) to build and deliver app updates, and the Expo push service with Google Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver notifications (we use Firebase only for notifications — not for analytics or advertising). These providers act as our service providers and process data on our behalf; we do not sell or share your personal information for advertising.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information until you delete it. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time directly in the App (Profile → Delete account), which permanently removes your profile, players, matches, statistics, goals, schedules, uploaded videos, and video analysis results, and deletes your login. You can also delete a single video analysis in the App at any time. Uploaded videos are deleted automatically within 7 days even if you do nothing. You can also request deletion without the App — see our Account & Data Deletion page.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on AWS with access scoped to your account. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Your choices and rights
You can access and update your information in the App at any time, and delete your account and data as described above. To make any other request regarding your data, contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
